THE BRITISH PUCK HOCEY ASSOCIATION (BIPHA) is the governing body for Inline puck hockey played to FIRS rules within the United Kingdom. Inline Hockey has rules similar to Ice Hockey, and, although it is a contact sport, body checking is not allowed and will result in a penalty.
BIPHA SOUTH WALES is a region within BIPHA and organises competitions from a purpose built rink at The Cardiff City House of Sport.
BIPHA SOUTH WALES runs a ten team senior league. In 2018-19 a junior club, Caerphilly, will be starting the process of co-ordinating all the junior age groups within South Wales. This will take the form of entering teams at under 10, 12, 14, 16 and 18 to play at the BIPHA SOUTH rink at Bisley, tournaments and coaching. Junior players can often play in two age groups to get extra hockey - please refer to guidelines published in the Official Rule Book.
Teams from outside of South Wales can compete in our senior league. In recent seasons Wrexham from North Wales and Paignton competed successfully in the senior league.
The cost of playing in our senior league is £50 for team registration, £100 to in advance to cover your teams last two league league games. The match fee is £50 per game.
Players and officials registration fees are not available at this time, as a guide the range is from about £15 for the youngest players and officials to £35 for senior players. This is payable to the British Inline Puck Hockey Association. No fees are required for BIPHA South Wales for the current season.
Every team has to play a minimum of 2 matches as league matches. The league winner of each age group is then eligible to travel to Rotherham to take part in the Nationals. The Nationals usually take place at the end of the season in May, June or July at a cost of approx £250 per team. BIPHA will allow extra teams to compete in the Nationals depending on the number of teams in our League. (This has been as many as four Teams).
We are then offering all the players extra hockey as friendlies, mini tournaments and 3 on 3 touurnaments.
The matches are played at the indoor training facility of Premier League Football Club, Cardiff City. There are facilities for a wide variety of sports including a purpose built hockey rink.

The match fees are £50 per game, usually 2 games a day. Extra training, fun days usually cost £5 per player, to be paid on the day.
If a game is forfeited then the team has to pay both sets of match fees per game forfeited.
Games are two periods in length, teams play 10 minutes for under 10s, 12 minutes for under 12 and 14, 15 minutes for under 16s and 20 minutes for seniors.
The games are running clock unless ref calls time out, each team is allowed 1 time out per period. If there is only a 2 goal score difference in the last 2 mins of the game it becomes stop clock.
All stats are available on the leagues website.
There is also the chance to trial for a place in the GB squad but again these are in Rotherham.
